Brownfield assessment projects typically follow a common path. Kalispell will begin inventorying potential sites by meeting with community leaders, the public, and Steering Committee members to identify sites for potential site assessments. Owners of these properties will be contacted to determine whether they would like to voluntarily participate in the assessment program. Site assessments will be completed as sites are identified and deemed eligible for assessment by the EPA, and where the owner has granted access to the property for assessment. Site assessment findings will be used to clear the property of perceived environmental problem(s) or to develop a plan for additional assessment or site cleanup consistent with the redevelopment vision for the site.
