School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer program embraces a triad concept. The first role the officer portrays is one of a law enforcement officer. The SRO takes criminal complaints and enforces the law. The second role of the SRO is a teacher/guest lecturer. The SRO provides law-related information to students in a classroom setting. The final role is that of a counselor. The SRO provides counseling to students to help them make the right decisions. The SRO also provides career counseling to students who are interested in law enforcement or related fields.

Officer Karen Webster is the School Resource Officer at Flathead High School. Karen was born and raised in Whitefish, and enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1993. While in the Navy, Karen worked as a Persian-Farsi interpreter, aircrew member, and deployed to the Persian Gulf on numerous aircraft carriers. After the Navy, Karen worked for the Navy's satellite operations center in California and went to school at night to obtain her degree in business administration. When Karen moved back to the Flathead Valley, she decided to follow her dad's footsteps and pursue a career in law enforcement. Karen enjoys working with the school community in Kalispell and looks forward to her second year as a School Resource Officer. Officer Karen Webster can be reached at 751-3476.

Officer Jason Parce is originally from northern Idaho, and attended the University of Idaho where he majored in Justice Studies and Sociology. Jason has been employed in law enforcement since 2006. Prior to gaining employment with Kalispell Police Department, he was a patrol deputy/coroner with Humboldt County Sheriff's Office in northern Nevada. Jason received his formal training at the Nevada Commission of Peace Officer's Standards and Training Academy in Carson City, Nevada.

As a school resource officer, Jason's primary concern is keeping Glacier High School a safe learning environment for all, while bridging the gap between law enforcement and the public. He enjoys speaking about law enforcement related topics in an attempt to provide kids with a better understanding of the law and its enforcement.
