The Detectives Division is comprised of one Captain, one Sergeant,one detective assigned to the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force, one detective assigned to the Montana Regional Violent Crimes Task Force and one Evidence Custodian.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Detectives Division is to investigate and assist in the prosecution of felony cases including:
- Property crimes
- Arson
- Burglaries
- Counterfeiting
- Forgery
- Fraud
- Motor vehicle theft
- Stolen property
- Theft embezzlement
- Weapons crimes
They are also assigned to investigate crimes against persons which include:
- Assault
- Domestic assaults - strangulation
- Homicide
- Crimes against children
- Rape
- Robbery
- Sexual
- Weapons Crimes
About the Detectives
The detectives also conduct background checks on applicants applying to be hired by the Kalispell Police Department and other city agencies as requested. Detectives are the department liaisons for Flathead County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and the Fetal, Infant, Children, and Maternal Mortality Review (FICMMR).
Throughout the year the detectives do public talks and community education presentations as requested on issues including thefts, robberies, identity theft, and dangerous drug educational classes.
